Systemic Consultation Centre:Furthering Systemic Practice Workshop

September 16^th, 19^th, 21^st and 22^nd 2011

Furthering Systemic Practice is designed for practitioners who have experience in systemic therapy and want to enhance and consolidate their knowledge and therapeutic skills. It is also designed for practitioners who may want a refresher of their practice.

Workshop Overview

Systemic therapy today involves a bringing together of narrative and solution focused ideas within a social constructionist framework. As a result the main

main components of the workshop are developing skills and understanding around:

• The centrality of relationships

• The importance of how meanings are constructed

• The influence of different contexts and

• The role of language

Workshop Structure

This is a practice-based course and will include:

·      Reading and discussion of provided articles

·      Provided maps of practice that show the integrations of systemic, narrative and solution focused therapies

·      Learning by Doing with skills development exercises, in relation to the maps of practice

·      Demonstration interviews

·      Role-plays

·      Group discussions

·      Use of reflecting team processes
